ABOUT US
David Wraight Cottages is a small, experienced team based in Marlborough, with a hands-on approach and a passion for character-filled homes. The business is run by David Wraight and his wife Kirsty, in partnership with DW & AM Gee Builders and their tight-knit building crew of four. Together, we’ve built a reputation for high-quality craftsmanship, friendly service, and homes that are full of heart.
We’ve been designing and building character homes for over 20 years — from early cottages to large villas and homesteads. While industry requirements and building processes have changed, we’ve stayed true to our roots. Today, we focus on building high-quality, transportable homes in our Kaituna yard, bringing classic New Zealand design into the modern era.
The two Daves — David Wraight and Dave Gee — bring over 80 years of combined building experience to the business. David leads the design and build process, while Dave Gee manages our site work, operating his own truck and digger and bringing a wealth of experience in site preparation and logistics. Together, they still do much of the hands-on work themselves — from framing and roofing to fitting kitchens, showers, and even handcrafting decorative timber scrolls.
We’re not a big company, and that’s the way we like it. Clients deal directly with David for custom design and pricing, and Kirsty guides each client through the interior selection process. As a qualified interior designer (Diploma, Interior Design Institute), Kirsty brings both style and practicality to every project — ensuring every home reflects the owner's personality while staying on budget.
We love creating warm, durable homes with authentic details — panelled ceilings, grooved walls, and timeless colour schemes. Our cottages capture the charm and elegance of old New Zealand, and many of our clients say how easy they are to re-sell (though most don’t want to part with them!).
PLEASE NOTE:
Visits to our yard are by appointment only. As this is an active manufacturing site, no minors under the age of 15 are permitted on site.
